Summary
This position will be responsible for all aspects related to Perdue Premium Meat Company (PPMC) product specifications and assist with label reviews and in-house case label creation. This position will also assist in entering and maintaining product information in company databases.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Input & maintain product specifications for all PPMC products in Optiva.
- Gathers information for revisions and new specs working with Operations, Quality, Sales departments to ensure that the products being created or revised meet customer, operations, quality and regulatory standards.
- Enters and maintains product information in company databases.
- In-plant label design using Label Matrix, Bartender, VBS scale, Cablite for Ossid.
- Assists Regulatory, Labeling & Specification Supervisor with label reviews.
- Maintains documentation of specifications and label examples on PPMC servers for products.
- Creates and revises labels that are compliant with USDA regulations.
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent plus 2-4 years related experience.
Experience Requirements
Good communication (both oral and written) and math skills required. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Detail oriented.
Experience Preferred
Quality Assurance experience preferred. Experience in further processing and cooking of meat and poultry is preferred.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
- Position is partially sedentary but will require visits to the processing plant floor & occasional moving to other offices or buildings; including possible visits to other PPMC facilities & PPMC Co-Packer sites.
- May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
- May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
- Work activity is in an office & plant floor environment.
- When in a plant environment:
- Exposure primarily consists of wet & moist floors which include metal & plastic grating surfaces.
- May be exposed to temperatures of -10 degree to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient & 100% humidity.
- May handle product 0 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
- May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
- May be exposed to all chemicals found in meat/poultry, food, & processing plant.
- Must wear & use protective & safety equipment required for the job, as directed by the Company
