Summary
The purpose of the New Hire Trainer is to train associates during their initial onboard training period. Provide remedial and supplemental training to associates to assist them in learning proper job functions, safe work habits, rotation procedures and appropriate food safety measures. The New Hire Trainer will also provide documented feedback to their supervisor on associate’s performance.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Introduce associates and temporary associates (when applicable) to their jobs, including basic training; rotation procedures; safe work habits, clock-in and clock-out procedures as well as monitor associates for proper GMP’s and safety equipment (hair/beard net, ear plugs, safety glasses, aprons, boots, etc.). Insure associates are given the information and training to be successful in their department and at Perdue.
Continually pursue a skill level at or above the required certification level for all general labor positions within the Schulenburg Further Processing Departments
Ensure associates have been given and understand safety policies and practices including walking them thru evacuation route from their work area to their zone and physically showing them the location of SDS book prior to going to the production floor.
Review performance with associates and advise of strengths and weaknesses. Conduct quality and quantity checks of associate’s performance and document on pre-determined evaluation period. Forward documentation of all evaluation forms to their supervisor
Monitor associate’s progress and report to supervisor on a weekly basis. Facilitate incorporation of associate into work team.
Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management related matters.
Continually monitor and evaluate Operator(s) equipment comprehension on a predetermined basis. This includes holding training classes with new and existing key positions and operators in order to provide continuous education on the equipment on the floor
Facilitate orientation, PPE requirements, and all onboarding processes
Administer Job Preview Program (JPP) with potential candidates on-floor
Minimum Education
High School or equivalent not required but beneficial. Strong reading, writing, analytical and math skills required. A High School diploma or GED preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint preferred.
Experience Requirements
Worked a minimum of 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer within the past 3 years.
Experience Preferred
Experience in poultry processing/manufacturing environment preferred.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
When in a plant environment:
- Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
- May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
- May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
- May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
- Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
- Able to stand for several hours.
- Work may include lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, bending, pushing boxes on conveyor assembly.
