Summary

Drive fleet performance, asset optimization, and operational efficiency across the organization. As a Fleet Asset Manager, you will serve as the primary connection between Fleet and field operations, ensuring assets are strategically deployed, properly utilized, and aligned with business needs. You will partner closely with transportation, plant, live production, feed mill, warehouse, and yard operations leadership to evaluate equipment requirements, support lifecycle planning, and maximize the value of fleet investments. This highly visible, field-focused role is ideal for a relationship-driven professional who enjoys collaborating with operational leaders, influencing strategic decisions, and delivering measurable improvements in asset utilization, fleet performance, and long-term capital planning.

The salary range for this position is $78,000.00 - $97,000.00 per year, based on experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct regular field visits to operating locations throughout the assigned region.
• Perform physical asset audits to validate equipment location, condition, status, and utilization.
• Ensure fleet records accurately reflect asset assignments, locations, and operational status.
• Identify idle, underutilized, or improperly deployed assets and recommend corrective actions.
• Support asset accountability initiatives and improve overall fleet data integrity.
• Validate compliance with fleet asset management policies and procedures.
• Monitor and evaluate utilization of fleet assets across assigned operating locations.
• Identify opportunities for asset transfers, redeployment, pooling, or rotation to maximize utilization.
• Support equal mileage accumulation and balanced asset lifecycle management strategies.
• Collaborate with operations leadership to optimize equipment allocation based on business needs.
• Analyze operational usage patterns and recommend improvements to asset deployment.
• Serve as the primary Fleet liaison for assigned operational regions.
• Develop strong working relationships with plant, transportation, warehouse, feed mill, and live operations leadership.
• Partner with field operations teams to understand current and future equipment requirements.
• Act as a trusted advisor regarding fleet capabilities, asset availability, lifecycle planning, and equipment strategies.
• Communicate operational needs and priorities to Fleet leadership and support teams.
• Evaluate fleet assets throughout their lifecycle and identify replacement priorities.
• Assess condition, age, utilization, maintenance history, and business requirements to support capital planning decisions.
• Participate in the development of annual fleet capital replacement plans.
• Provide field validation for capital expenditure requests and replacement recommendations.
• Support asset acquisition, commissioning, transfers, redeployment, and disposition activities.
• Gather operational feedback regarding equipment performance and functionality.
• Collaborate with Fleet Engineering and Operations teams to ensure equipment specifications meet business requirements.
• Support fleet standardization initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, safety, and operational effectiveness.
• Ensure local operational requirements are appropriately represented during specification development.
• Utilize fleet data, field observations, and operational feedback to support decision-making.
• Develop recommendations regarding asset replacement, additions, redeployment, and disposal.
• Support long-range fleet planning initiatives.
• Identify trends that impact fleet availability, utilization, and capital investment strategies.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Transportation, Fleet Management, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.

OR:

• At least 5 years of relevant experience.
• 5+ years of experience in fleet operations, asset management, transportation, maintenance, equipment lifecycle management, or related operations.
• Experience managing large equipment fleets and supporting multiple operating locations.
• Experience working directly with operations leaders and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Knowledge of capital planning and equipment replacement strategies.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

• Move freely throughout garage facilities, including climbing vertical heights of 0 to 50 feet.
• Carry tools and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Work in environments with temperatures ranging from 0 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Work in humidity levels ranging from 0% to 100%.
• Work in noise levels ranging from 50 dB to 100 dB.
• Work around chemicals with Safety Data Sheets available.
• Wear required personal protective equipment.
• Spend the majority of work time at operating locations working directly with business partners, validating fleet assets, assessing utilization, conducting audits, and identifying opportunities to improve fleet performance and asset management practices.
• Travel 60% to 70% within the assigned region, including regular visits to operating locations, transportation terminals, garages, warehouses, feed mills, and production facilities.
• Travel overnight as required by business needs.
