Summary

We are actively recruiting for a Food and Safety Quality Associate to assist with the implementation and continual improvement of the Food Safety and Quality programs related to Live Operations to include Breeders, Hatcheries, Feed Mills and Grow Out. This person will be responsible for enforce program requirements and SOPs within the live operations group around food safety, operational quality, biosecurity and other program compliance.  They will also be required to perform periodic auditing of our live operations group to ensure compliance to our programs.   

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Must have experience with auditing in order to perform companywide onsite compliance audits related to all Process Verified Programs
  • Work closely with external auditors and internal staff to accurately and professionally track and respond to audit inquiries in a timely manner
  • Analyze data and make continuous improvement recommendations to the management teams.
  • The individual in this position must possess the ability to be self-motivated and self-supervised in order to effectively perform their job duties.
  • Contributes to other projects, and process improvement activities
  • Proven experience in a willingness to promote and drive change; able to communicate and work with teams at all organizational levels from senior management to shop floor; strong communication, organization and presentation skills.
  • Needs to possess the ability to learn new concepts, combined with common sense and effectively apply to problem solving; combination of business, interpersonal, technical and analytical skills motivated by challenge. 

 

 

 

Minimum Education

  • BS degree or equivalent related work experience preferably in Food Science, Animal Science, Poultry Science, Business Management, Biology, Chemistry

 

Experience Requirements

  • 3 years of audit experience.
  • Must have experience with auditing in order to perform companywide onsite compliance audits related to all Process Verified Programs
  • HACCP and PAACO Certification
  • Knowledge of USDA Regulations including GMP/SSOP/HACCP.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multitask while maintaining required timelines.
  • Knowledge/experience with Microsoft computer software.
  • Proven experience in a willingness to promote and drive change; able to communicate and work with teams at all organizational levels from senior management to shop floor; strong communication, organization and presentation skills.
  • Demenstrative ability to learn new concepts, combined with common sense and effectively apply to problem solving; combination of business, interpersonal, technical and analytical skills motivated by challenge. 
  • Must be able to travel to other facilities and plants for meetings and/or company business.

Experience Preferred

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Prior poultry experience preferred

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Position can be sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.
  • May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
  • May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
  • When in a plant environment:
  • Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
  • May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degree to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
  • May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
  • May be exposed to all chemicals found in poultry, food and processing plant.
  • Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company
