Summary

The Brand Manager for YUMMY® Ready-to-Eat (RTE) products at Perdue is responsible for the strategic and operational management of a key growth segment within the YUMMY® portfolio. This role focuses on driving market share and profitability for the Yummy Brand by leveraging consumer insights, executing effective marketing programs, and collaborating cross-functionally to bring innovative products to market.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Brand Management & Growth: Lead the day-to-day brand management of the YUMMY® product portfolio. Develop and execute annual marketing plans, including promotions, communications, and product lifecycle management, to achieve volume and brand share targets.
  • Market & Consumer Insights: Continuously monitor market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive activities specifically related to RTE products. Identify opportunities for growth, renovation, or competitive response within this dynamic category.
  • Product Development & Commercialization: Collaborate closely with R&D, Sales, and the Brand Director on the identification, development, and successful commercialization of new RTE products, from concept to launch. Manage project timelines and cross-functional deliverables.
  • Financial Performance: Monitor and analyze the financial performance of RTE products, including sales, margins, and marketing spend. Identify opportunities for pricing and promotional optimization.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a key liaison between marketing and sales, R&D, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure smooth execution of product initiatives and marketing programs.
  • Performance Tracking: Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for RTE products, providing insights and recommendations for strategic adjustments.
  • Retailer Specific Initiatives: Support the development of retailer-specific marketing programs and promotions for RTE products.
  • Marketing & Sales Support: Proactively develop strategies and selling stories that support go-to-market execution, line-reviews, and assortment planning.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.

 

Experience Requirements

  • 4+ years of brand management experience, preferably within the food or CPG industry, with specific exposure to kid-centric products or convenience foods.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to and execute marketing plans effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills, capable of interpreting sales data and market research.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Proactive, creative problem-solver with a strong attention to detail

Decision-Making Authority

  • Go-to-Market (GTM) Strategy: They are responsible for devising and executing the GTM plan for new product introductions, which includes defining the target audience, crafting the core messaging, and selecting the right marketing channels.
  • Commercialization Lead: The brand manager leads the cross-functional commercialization process, coordinating operations, sales, finance, and product development teams to ensure successful and timely product launches.
  • P&L Influence: They significantly impact revenue and margin growth, often contributing to or managing elements of the brand's profit and loss (P&L) statement. This includes budgeting, pricing strategy recommendations, and resource allocation to optimize financial performance.
  • Product & Packaging: They provide input on product innovation and development, influencing product features and designing retail packaging to ensure products align with brand values and meet consumer needs. 

Nature and Extent of Supervision

  • General Oversight: The role typically reports to a Brand Director who provides overarching strategic direction and final approval on major strategic shifts or large investments.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: They act as the central hub, aligning diverse teams across the organization, including sales, product development, creative, and finance. This requires strong leadership and influencing skills to ensure a cohesive approach to commercial success.
  • Autonomy: Brand managers generally have a high degree of autonomy in day-to-day operations and project management related to bringing products to market. 

Point at which Higher Approval is Required

  • Major Financial & Strategic Decisions: Decisions involving substantial financial investment or significant impact on the P&L require higher approval from the Brand Director or senior management.
  • Legal & Compliance: Any product claims or campaigns with potential legal or regulatory implications require final sign-off from specialized legal and compliance teams.
  • Brand Re-evaluation: Fundamental shifts in the brand's long-term vision, positioning, or core identity are typically escalated for senior leadership approval
