Summary
MICRO HEALTH SRVCS - Perform analyses, including testing, on materials, environmental samples and finished products.
SR. SPECIFICATION COORDINATOR - Train and assist specification coordinator(s) on SAP, Optiva, Product Specifications and related documents. Establish and maintain data to the material master in SAP for new and existing products. Establish and maintain specifications and related documents for new and existing products.
REGULATORY LABEL COORD - Responsible for submitting and obtaining approval for any new labels with claims. This position bears a regulatory knowledge and process to submit the label to the USDA
without any delay. The person will assist production plants for creation of box end labels.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
MICRO HEALTH SRVCS - Perform microbiological testing, including pathogens, on incoming raw materials, spices, and finished products. Practice good laboratory procedures and aseptic techniques. Perform environmental testing from production areas. Maintain inventory of necessary supplies and equipment needed for testing. Maintain laboratory equipment, perform calibrations and take care of other routine maintenance items. Report, distribute, and maintain lab records. Distribute results and keep accurate files. Keep record of controls and temperatures.
SR. SPECIFICATION COORDINATOR - Provide training and assistance to Specification Coordinator(s) on SAP, Optiva, Product Specifications and related documents. Provide guidance and supervision in the absence of Specifications Supervisor. Make decisions on product requirements when conflicts arise and Specification Coordinator(s) cannot resolve. Establish and maintain product information in the material master of SAP. In accordance with our QIP, ensure all products have written requirements. Establish and maintain specifications (written requirements) and related documents for products as needed. Gather information for revisions and new specifications, initiate approval process, and publish specifications in a timely and organized manner. Update Specification system on Perdue Intranet with new and revised specifications. Ensure that all products are set up in the Optiva specification system. Maintain specification master files with current formulations, previous revisions, and all correspondence related to the product so as to establish an archive of product information. Maintain specification data bases as changes and additions occur. Establish and maintain information in product code master list.
REGULATORY LABEL COORD - Receive and process all conventional, natural, CN and organic labels in a timely manner. This includes temporary and generic label approvals. Interface with USDA, AMS for clarification or modification of policies. Review labels created by marketing for adherence to regulatory agency policies. Input and maintain labeling in customer specific databases or share point. Assist IT to create barcode labeling. Create barcode label for KD plants. Develop Nutrition Facts Panels using data from Genesis Software or analytical data.
Minimum Education
MICRO HEALTH SRVCS - (BA/BS) in biology, microbiology, or related science; or an associates’ degree (AS) in biology, microbiology and related science with at least 10 semester hours of coursework in Microbiology.
SR. SPECIFICATION COORDINATOR - High School Diploma, College degree (BS/BA) preferred.
REGULATORY LABEL COORD - Minimum B.S. in Food Science, Nutrition, RD Dietetics or related field or equivalent years of experience and training.
Experience Requirements
4 years experience.
MICRO HEALTH SRVCS - Two years of directly related laboratory environment work experience may also be considered. Strong written and communication skills. Experience with Microsoft based software. Proficient computer skills are also necessary.
SR. SPECIFICATION COORDINATOR - Strong communication, organization, math, reading and writing skills. Computer literate, proficient in Optiva and SAP. Familiar with Outlook/Word/Excel applications. Types 60 wpm with 3-5 years related experience.
REGULATORY LABEL COORD - Working knowledge of USDA, AMS (CN) and Organic label regulations and documentation requirements. Knowledge of meat and poultry product development and processes. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Must be able to function in a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Proficient in Microsoft Office Products. Detail oriented and self motivated.
Experience Preferred
REGULATORY LABEL COORD - Prefer 7-10 years in food product labeling, nutrition, specification.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db. to 110 db.
May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company. May need to climb ladders.
