Summary

Lead the systems that keep operations running safely and efficiently. As a Refrigeration Lead, you will oversee the operation of our ammonia refrigeration system, boilers, and water supply equipment while ensuring full compliance with Process Safety Management standards and company safety procedures. You will guide daily operations, support your team in maintaining system reliability, and promote a strong safety-first culture across utilities operations. This role is ideal for a knowledgeable, hands-on leader who thrives in a critical systems environment and takes pride in protecting people, equipment, and production performance.

 

Schedule: 5:00am-2:00pm

 

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct and prioritize daily work schedules for B+R operators and technicians.
  • Must complete extensive and major repairs and provide training to operators and technicians.
  • Problem solve and implement preventive measures for Boilers and Refrigeration Equipment.
  • Maintain PM system for B+R equipment through use of Maximo Software.
  • Provide leadership for B+R function during the absence of the B+R Supervisor.
  • Provide technical support and training on operation of Fire and Sprinkler Systems for Plant.

 

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 6 months of verifiable ammonia refrigeration experience.
  • Must have knowledge of PSM requirements and/or trade organization such as LANIER PSM/RMP for Ammonia.

 

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

  • Must be able to work in areas of high heat up to 90F and cool temps to 28F.

 

When in a plant environment:

  • Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
  • May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
  • May handle products from 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
  • May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing plant.
  • May need to access files, supplies, and equipment.
  • Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
  • Must be able to pass a physical test, pulmonary test, SCBA fit test, and meet the requirements of a HAZMAT Team Member annually.
  • There are periodic Checks: Associates may be required to participate in regular fit tests when respirators are necessary.
  • Comply with all federal, state and company safety requirements related to ammonia, confined space training, i.e., CPR/FA.
