Shift: Mon-Fri 3:30pm - 12am with on call rotation
Summary:
The Fleet Technician B is a fully qualified technician responsible for independently diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining fleet vehicles and equipment in accordance with OEM specifications and DOT regulations. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage repair priorities to meet production and quality standards. The B Technician supports fleet reliability through efficient repairs, accurate documentation, and occasional road call response.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Independently diagnose equipment failures and determine appropriate repair methods
- Perform repairs in compliance with OEM, DOT, and company standards
- Complete required safety and technical training as determined by the Fleet Manager
- Utilize shop computer systems and applicable OEM software for diagnostics
- Proficiently repair and service vehicle systems including:
Brakes and air systems
Electrical systems
Driveline components
Suspension and drivetrain
Hydraulics
Cab and chassis
Preventative maintenance
- Accurately complete work orders and ensure repair documentation reflects work performed
- Evaluate completed repairs prior to releasing vehicles to service
- Perform road calls and emergency repairs as necessary
- Ensure safe operation of shop equipment and tools
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 3 years of direct fleet or heavy equipment repair experience
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
- Technical school training
- CDL A
- ASE or OEM certifications
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, lifting light and heavy objects. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 lbs. Required to sit, stand, walk use hands to finger, handle, feel, talk, hear, to reach with hands or arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and smell. Must be able to lay on back on a mechanic's dolly to work underneath motor vehicle equipment. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Associates must be free of any conditions which result in temporary loss of consciousness or ability to reason. Work is performed with exposure to noise, chemicals, noxious odors gases, poor ventilation, inclement weather, dirt, grease, dust and machinery with moving parts requiring use of protective devices
