Summary
The purpose of this position is to efficiently operate the wastewater treatment plant to achieve compliance with all permits. Operations of related lift stations and storm water system are also included. Schedule can vary due to business need but is generally:
Thursday 6:00 am- 6:00 pm
Friday 6:00 am- 6:00 pm
Saturday 6:00 am- 6:00 pm
Sunday 6:00 am- 6:00 pm
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- 35%- Daily operational maintenance including chemical dosage, operational readings, operator log, microscopic exams flow adjustments, measurement and operational evaluation calculations. Monitor/record data, use D.O. probe.
- 20%-Daily mechanical maintenance for warning systems, lift stations, ponds, tanks, pumps, motors and other equipment such as the belt filter press and dissolved air floatation unit.
- 20%- Schedule preventive maintenance either daily, weekly or quarterly or annually according to service record for pumps, motors, tanks, mixers, and other equipment; includes groundskeeping and housekeeping.
- 15% Maintain lift stations and pits and stormwater.
- 10%- Monitor and maintain Sequential Batch Reactor system including skimming floatable debris from surface and Ph reading to determine chemical additions.
- Must be able to coordinate and facilitate monitoring, reporting, and record keeping for applicable environmental activities.
- Must be able to quickly to perceived problems by communicating clearly and effectively with facility managers.
Minimum Education
High School or equivalent plus required state license.
Experience Requirements
- Strong reading, writing and math skills.
- Must have 2 years of experience of wastewater operations.
Experience Preferred
Level 2 Wastewater license in Delaware or other state's equivalent.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. May need to access files, supplies and equipment. When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle products from 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db. to 110 db. May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, and processing facilities. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company. May need to climb ladders. May require standing for several hours at a time.
