Summary
The Compliance Field Agent (FA) position reports to the Live Animal Compliance Manager and is responsible for a specific geographic region. This position is accountable for ensuring compliance across farms in the Niman Ranch network through internal annual audits and third-party audits, Pork Quality Assurance (PQA), Transport Quality Assurance (TQA), Secure Pork Supply Plans and assisting with farmer on-boarding. This position requires strong organizational skills, so the Compliance Field Agent’s activities are efficiently planned and executed.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Audits: Each farmer requires an internal annual audit. Third-party audits are conducted as needed.
- Pork Quality Assurance (PQA) and Transport Quality Assurance (TQA): The Compliance Field Agent will become a PQA and TQA advisor and ensure all farmers in the network maintain their certificate for both. This position will work with other Field Agents in the process, as necessary.
- Secure Pork Supply Plans (SPS): This position is responsible for maintaining current farmers’ plans and formulating plans for new farmers as part of the onboarding process.
- Farmer Onboarding: This position is responsible for completing each farmer’s onboarding process, including farm plan, necessary affidavits, etc.
- Travel: Travel is required to visit farms within but not limited to the states of Illinois, Indiana, northern Kentucky, southern Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, southern New York, Maryland, Delaware and Ontario. Overnight travel is required.
Minimum Education
- Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in an applicable field of study OR have 2+ years of practical swine management experience. Combination of both is preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs and have the ability to learn a web-based database. Computer proficiency is required.
- Must possess extremely skillful communication and organizational skills.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must maintain a valid passport.
- Swine production experience is preferred.
- Must have the ability to productively work from a home-based office and perform the travel required within set territory.
Experience Preferred
- Swine production experience, especially centered around farrow to finish is preferred.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
- Able to stand for several hours.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Willing and able to work in wet and extreme cold or hot conditions.
- Willing and able to work around dust, feathers, animals and various cleaning chemicals.
