Summary
Support efficient production operations by ensuring boxes and packaging materials are prepared, stocked, and available where needed. As a General Labor - Box Room Attendant, you will load and fold boxes, supply production lines, manage packaging inventory, and assist with bag-inserting equipment while rotating to other department duties based on operational needs. You will work independently and as part of a team to maintain safe, organized, and reliable support for finished-product packaging. This role is ideal for a dependable, safety-focused candidate who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and takes accountability for quality work.
Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Load boxes by lifting them overhead and positioning them on the automatic folding machine; manually fold handmade boxes as needed.
- Issue inventory materials to the production floor and return unused materials to stock.
- Insert bags into boxes and assist with bag changes on the bag-inserting equipment.
- Stack boxes for satellite production areas and inventory storage.
- Feed boxes down production chutes as needed.
- Monitor glue levels and keep glue pods properly filled.
- Follow all safety requirements, including using required personal protective equipment, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, complying with Lockout/Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management requirements, and maintaining good housekeeping standards at all times.
- Rotate to other duties within the department based on operational needs.
Minimum Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Related experience in a poultry or food processing environment.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors
- Work primarily on dry and moist floors, including concrete, metal, and plastic grating surfaces.
- Work in temperatures ranging from 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, with ambient to 100% humidity.
- Handle products ranging from 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Work in noise levels ranging from 50 dB to 110 dB.
- Work with exposure to dust and chemicals used in a poultry food processing facility.
- Wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
- Work with occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors up to 10 ppm and chlorine below 20 ppm.
- Stand for 8-10 hours.
- Lift up to 50 lbs., reach, bend, and push boxes on the conveyor assembly.
