Summary

Perdue AgriBusiness has an immediate opening for an experienced Union Soy Maintenance Mechanic Trainee at our facility on Barnes Road in Chesapeake, Virginia. In this role you will assist with preventive maintenance tasks as assigned. Perform all equipment repairs and daily work within OSHA regulations, lockout-tagout and company safety policies. Monitor performance of equipment and inform maintenance and production supervisors of potential problems

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Perform equipment diagnostics and trouble shooting on all equipment and make repairs.
Perform preventative maintenance on all mechanical equipment.
Rebuild mechanical equipment.
Fabricate sheetmetal.
Compile and complete paperwork relative to repairs to include but not limited to work orders and job cards.
Perform routine housekeeping requirements and other routine labor task as directed.
Perform all work within the safety guidelines established by local state, and federal agencies as well as company policies.

Minimum Education

High School or equivalent

Experience Requirements

Advanced technical or equipment maintenance training preferred
TWIC application is required

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Position is active. On the plant floor activities such as troubleshooting and re-design of existing systems are routine. May need to move equipment occasionally. May need to access files, supplies and equipment. Position requires an associate to have the ability to move throughout the complex and all facilities. When in a plant environment:

Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
