Summary

Perdue Foods is seeking a results-driven and knowledgeable Regional Environmental Manager to oversee and manage environmental programs across multiple facilities in the company’s prepared foods division. This role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations while driving continuous improvement in sustainability and environmental stewardship. The Regional Environmental Manager will collaborate with plant-level environmental teams, corporate leadership, and regulatory agencies to maintain compliance and support company-wide environmental initiatives.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee environmental compliance programs for multiple prepared foods facilities, ensuring adherence to all applicable regulations, including federal, state, and local environmental laws.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Implement environmental policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance compliance and sustainability efforts.
  • Monitor and assist in management of facility permits, including air, water, and waste regulations, ensuring timely reporting and renewals.
  • Provide training and guidance to plant environmental managers and facility personnel on environmental requirements and best practices.
  • Assist facility operations and environmental staff with regulatory responses, inspections, reporting, and compliance-related inquiries.
  • Lead investigations into environmental incidents and notices of violation, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively.
  • Support sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction, energy conservation, and water efficiency projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of compliance activities and prepare required environmental reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and corporate sustainability teams to drive continuous environmental improvement.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or significant experience in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably within the food processing or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, including permitting, air emissions, stormwater, wastewater, and hazardous waste management.
  • Experience with environmental management systems and compliance auditing.
  • Proficiency in environmental management systems and reporting tools.
  • Commitment to ethical standards and a passion for promoting safety and sustainability.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with senior management and other company functions/teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple facilities and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills to influence environmental improvements across locations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and environmental management software.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to travel to company locations and regulatory meetings as needed.  Travel requirements may vary, but 35% travel should be expected.
  • Work is performed in an office setting with occasional visits to operational sites, including manufacturing and agricultural environments.
  • Interaction with employees at all levels, regulatory agencies, and external consultants.
