Summary

We are recruiting for a Director of Business Development reporting to the Vice President of Foodservice Distribution.  Director of Business Development is a senior leadership role focused on managing and expanding strategic partnerships with major foodservice contract management companies and national procurement entities. This role is responsible for developing and executing business strategies that drive profitable growth, enhance market presence, and strengthen alignment between Perdue’s internal teams and key external partners. The ideal candidate will bring strong industry expertise, relationship management skills, and a strategic mindset to support long-term success in the contract management segment of the foodservice channel.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement corporate accounts strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Lead market-facing activities that support sales organization priorities.

2. Account Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate account partners.
  • Serve as the primary contact for account interactions, ensuring partner needs are effectively addressed.

3. Performance Monitoring

  • Monitor sales performance across markets, analyze trends, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Set and achieve financial targets for customer performance through strategic initiatives.

4. Collaboration Across Teams

  • Partner with sales and marketing to align customer strategy and engagement.
  • Facilitate communication between internal teams, broker sales agencies, and external stakeholders.
  • Strengthen customer relationships by collaborating with Division and Regional Managers to drive broker sales agency and customer performance.

5. Training and Development

  • Coordinate cross-functional training programs for internal and external stakeholders on products, services, and compliance.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the distribution team.

6. Market Analysis

  • Conduct market research to identify trends impacting broker sales agency and distribution strategies.
  • Apply insights to inform product development and marketing initiatives.

7. Compliance and Trade Management

  • Ensure all distribution activities comply with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Oversee trade promotions and maintain financial integrity of account management.
  • Collaborate with compliance teams to mitigate risks and resolve discrepancies.

8. Reporting

  • Provide regular reports on corporate account performance for senior leadership review.
  • Present data-driven insights to support strategic decisions.

9. Innovation in Distribution Channels

  • Explore alternative distribution models to expand reach and effectiveness.
  • Implement technology solutions to streamline initiative management.

10. Travel Requirements

Willingness to travel for internal & external meetings and industry events as needed.

 

 

Minimum Education and Experience

REQUIRED: 15+ years of experience in sales and distribution management

 

PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • Proven leadership and team development skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficiency with Windows, TPM & CRM systems.
  • Deep understanding of foodservice market dynamics.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

The position is to be remote based with travel to customers, events and Perdue locations as needed.
