Summary

       The overall purpose of this position, i.e., what it accomplishes at Perdue and/or why it exists is:

  • To correctly identify and off-load all bulk ingredients as they come in and to ensure ingredients are correctly routed to their assigned storage bins. Proper documentation, sequencing, and flushing (if necessary), is required on of all incoming ingredients prior to offloading. 
    
     Work Schedule:
  • Hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the direction of management and, while generally as shown below, may be changed (increased or decreased) by management. 
  • Hours of Work: Generally, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM or as scheduled by management with (2) 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
  • Days of Work: Normally, Monday through Friday and weekends if needed by operations and approved by management. 

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • To unload all bulk and liquid ingredients for trucks and rail cars.
  • To probe or sample all ingredients before unloading.
  • Take daily ingredient inventories by measurement of bulk storage bins with measuring tape or electronic laser measurement device. 
  • Perform various housekeeping functions, including flushing and cleaning the pit(s)
  • Follow poultry welfare guidelines
  • Capture or key all weights and vendor information to receiving tickets. Maintain receiving log(s) as appropriate. 
  • Follow animal protein free (APF) Process Verified (PVP) SOP's.

 

Minimum Education

  • High School Education is preferred.
  • Reading, writing, and basic math skills are required. 

Experience Requirements

  • Must be able to be trained into a PC based operating system and keyboarding to spreadsheets and the Mill Control System Database. 
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision. 
  • Make judgements on when to unload railcars and ingredenets based on inventories taken at the beginning od the shift. 
  • Must be able to recognize diffecent or incomplete paperwork (BOL's) and hold deliveries until doccumentaiton can be verified and corrected. 
  • Management should be contacted is available, but the operator must act as the "gate keeper" to prevent unloading of contaminated or incorrectly identified products.  

Experience Preferred

  • Prior mill experience preferred, but no experience required. 

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work in dusty, and/or ambient (rain, cold, ect) environmental conditions.
  • Must be able to safely lift 50lbs and use a sledgehammer to dislodge material from railroad hopper cars.
